Bench
Designer: Stéphane ChapeletThe Bench is made of 6 strong steel profiles (50/10 thickness). These profiles are laser-cut for the placement of 20 exotic wood slats 40x40x1800 mm. The 6 profiles are connected in pairs through elements made in a bent, U shaped steel sheet (15/10 thickness). On these elements there are holes for the fixing of the slats. Among the profile pairs there are 3 elements in steel sheet (15/10 thickness) that serve as spacers and strengthen the structure. In the back, as a cover of the ground fixing system, 2 steel panels (15/10 thickness) are fixed. These panels are calendered and S shaped to stick to the shapes of the structural profiles. On the base of the 3 pairs of profiles theare are plates in steel sheet (50/10 thickness), on which there are 2 holes (12 mm diam.) for the fixing to the ground through specific bolts (not provided).
For the realization of this product, Steel EN10111DD11 is used and later treated with a cycle of sandblasting, cataphoresis and powder coating. Such cycle is meant to guarantee the protection of the painted products, in an environment of C4 corrosion class, as requested by the UNI regulations EN ISO 12944-2. The products are eventually polyester-powder coated with AkzoNobel RAL colours at choice.
As an alternative to steel EN10111DD11, the production in corten is also available, on demand. In this case the material is treated with a specific oxidation process.
The wood used is either Iroko or Okume, treated with natural, water-repellent, UV ray resistant oils.
